Marilyn Trachsel grew up on a family farm near the small town of Chamois, Missouri. She graduated from Osage County R-1 High School as salutatorian of her graduating class of 20 people. She attended Lincoln University and Columbia College. Marilyn began her career working for a number of small associations where she learned how to do a little bit of everything. In 1987, she began her State employment working with the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Health. In 1990, she became Office Manager for the Missouri State Agency for Surplus Property (MOSASP). MOSASP is under the Division of Purchasing and Materials Management which is under the State’s Office of Administration. In October 1996, she was named Employee of the Month for her Division and in March 1997, she was named Office of Administration Employee of the Month. On January 1, 1998, Marilyn was promoted to Agency Manager at MOSASP which is the position she holds today.

Marilyn is the Treasurer of the National Association of State Agencies for Surplus Property (NASASP) – a position she has held almost continuously since September 2002. She has served as the Fund Administrator for the NASASP Overseas Fund since July 2001. Marilyn has served as Area III President and has chaired and served on a variety of NASASP Committees. In 2005, Marilyn received the NASASP President’s Award.

Marilyn and her husband Paul live in Jefferson City, Missouri. Marilyn has a son who is a State of Colorado employee. Her step-son is a Federal employee living in Virginia. Marilyn’s hobbies include traveling and shopping for antiques.
